“After 50 years of marriage, my husband told me he wanted a divorce. Some days, it’s difficult to get out of bed. My purpose, I thought, was to raise my children and take care of my husband. Now I have to find a new reason to get up each day. I haven’t figured out what that might be yet. It’s hard to watch everyone around me when they seem to be so filled with hope and joy. I’ve always loved to garden, and lately I’ve been enjoying teaching my grandchildren to grow plants from bulbs. It’s just a little something we do together, and seeing little shoots push up from out of the soil is always magical for me. I hope they will remember me whenever they see spring flowers.”
