10 Weeks of Whimsical Mixed-Media Portraits

Ready to make some art, have some fun, and connect with other creative people — all from the comfort of home?

ZOOM DOODLE is a relaxed, low-impact LIVE online art experience that is offered once a year for 10 weeks. This year, we’ll be creating whimsical mixed-media portraits while exploring creativity, self-expression, relaxation, and wellbeing.

For 10 weeks, we’ll “art” together LIVE on ZOOM for a total of 20 hours of creative time. You’ll experiment with watercolor, markers, colored pencils, collage, stamps, stencils, and whatever supplies you already have on hand.

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

This class is perfect for anyone who is spending more time at home, moving through an injury or illness, or simply looking for a creative way to connect with others.

No previous art experience is necessary. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist. You just need a few basic supplies, an open mind, and a willingness to play.

This isn’t a formal, stuffy step-by-step art class. It’s learning by doing, experimenting, laughing, creating, and discovering what happens when you give yourself permission to make art without worrying about getting it “right.”

If you *really* want to know which supplies I fancy, here is a list of some of my faves.

SUPPLIES:

• An assortment of pencils, some water activated; some not. (I like Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle for water activation.)
• Pentel Aqua brushes
• Watercolor set (I use Crayola’s 16-color pack.)
• Black Gelly Roll 08 pen
• Watercolor paper – 140 pound
• Colored pencils (I like Prismacolor Premier.)
• Assortment of paint pens. (I like Posca brand.)
• Assortment of tissue papers (or magazines or newspapers or old books to rip up)
• Gel Medium (& disposable sponge brush to use with it.)
• Acrylic paints. (I like this Liquitex assortment. Great for people who want every color!)
• Liquitex White GESSO
• Assortment of paint brushes (for acrylic)
• Palette for paint
• Assorted stamps: florals, butterflies, etc…
• Assorted stencils: These are cute! I also love these by Stencil Girl and this one by Dina Wakely, too .
