WILLOW is a 12×12″ original on canvas featuring thick layers of acrylic paint, colored pencils, & oil pastels.

Inspired during a dark time when I found myself unable to leave a destructive relationship, I sought help at a local women’s shelter. There was a young woman there, and we sat side-by-side, waiting to meet with our counselors, sharing our stories. I was stunned by how similar our situations were despite our age difference of nearly 35 years. I took her photograph and painted her in one sitting when I got home later that same day.
