Last week, Stephanie Rober Sheedy & I co-facilitated a workshop in which participants were able to create a whimsical painting of a favorite pet (or animal), and it was so successful, I’m offering it again, in two ways — on-line & in-person!
PAiNT a PET ONLINE via ZOOM
July 9, 2026 • 4PM-6PM ET
This workshop is open to everyone, ages 9-99! During this workshop you will transform a photograph of a pet/animal into a personal piece of art. Using acrylic paint & paint pens, you will paint on a piece of glass to create a vibrant, textured visual piece by layering bold, flowing brushstrokes & acrylic markers. Then you will create a background that works well with your composition. The result is a dynamic interplay of color, depth, and motion — a piece that feels both spontaneous & deliberately composed.
To participate, you will need the following NECESSARY SUPPLIES:
- a high-contrast 8×10 color photocopy of the pet/animal. (Photo can be black & white or color. The important thing is that you want to be able to see several different shades.)
- a picture frame with 8×10 glass
- acrylic paints
- a black Sharpie Acrylic Paint Pen
- an assortment of other colorful paint pens with different sized tips that can paint on glass
- an assortment of collage papers

PAiNT a PET IN-PERSON

This is the same workshop I’ll be offering online — except I’ll provide all the necessary supplies for you to use in my Pittsford studio. The only thing you need to bring is a high contrast 8×10 photo of a favorite pet/animal. (If you don’t have one, I’ll have several photos on hand for you to use.)
Just like online, this workshop it is open to everyone, adults & children, ages 9-99.
Trust me when I say this class is positively foolproof, and it would be a great workshop to do with the entire family.
